Our mission here at the Comprehensive Center for Pain Research is to serve people in pain by promoting novel research that will help us understand the underlying mechanisms of acute and chronic pain and ultimately lead to more effective strategies of pain management, educating health professionals to help improve the management of acute and chronic pain, develop programs in pain prevention especially for those involved in professions that are predisposed to chronic pain, promote the development of new research initiatives by developing fund raising strategies with federal and non-federal agencies, promote the development of partnerships with private companies and federal agencies that are focused on different aspects of pain prevention, management, education, and research.
